About Iris Jacobs

Born in the Netherlands to a musically vibrant and entrepeneurial father and a holistic therapist mother, Iris Jacobs grew up immersed in creativity. At 18, she moved to Amsterdam to study Cultural & Social Design, laying the groundwork for her eclectic career in theater and film and graduated with a thesis ‘Between Art & Entrepeurship’.

After years as a theatre programmer, company manager and producer Iris became an art director and production designer across film, TV, and photography. Iris felt the pull to dive deeper into storytelling, and moved to Barcelona to make space to find her voice as a maker. Her passion for movement and physical theater led her to experiment with stop-motion animation, music video’s & choreography, eventually finding her true calling in writing and directing. Her contemporary collage art career she kept on developing, and even found the heart of her stories during her work on collage.

In 2018, Iris made her directorial debut with the short film Fight Flight Free, which gained recognition at festivals worldwide. Her latest works, including Conclave Clandestine and Twin Twisters, blend psychological depth with dark comedy. Currently, she’s crafting her first feature films like A Flight To Paradise and Everything I Didn’t Tell You, alongside contemporary theater pieces such as A Social Circle and A Dinner To Die For.

Iris offers services in writing and directing for both film and theater, bringing her unique and visionary blend of creativity, humor, and emotional depth to every project. She also provides mentorship, workshops and masterclasses, and develops the “Power to Purpose” program, launching in Spring 2025.

Last but not least, her passion for the holy threesome; writing, acting & directing, got sparked during a ‘Directing Performance’ workshop at The Actorsspace.org, and she followed an additional workshop in summer 2024 : Passionate Nature, more focussed on acting and physical theatre. Iris is also excited and passionate to take part in various film & theatre productions worldwide as an actor, because there is no better way to learn about writing and directing then to be on set and to ACT!

Iris and I collaborated on a writing and directing project, it became immediately apparent that she is a lovely person, with a great sense of humour as well as being a hard worker.
